Scoil Phádraic Cailíní welcomes Minister for Education, Norma Foley

There was great excitement in the school today when we were visited by the Minister for Education, Norma Foley. We were delighted to welcome the Minister and show her around our school – she was full of praise for the bright happy atmosphere around the building, as well as all the fantastic art work on display.

Minister Foley enjoyed a spirited debate by our 5th class girls on the the motion that “School uniforms are a good idea”. She praised the girls’ wonderful skills and relevant points and admitted she would have trouble choosing a side – but she is in no doubt that the future is bright and in very safe hands!

The Pupils’ Council had a lengthy discussion with the Minister, during which they spoke about the Council and its initiatives. Minister Foley took the time to to answer the girls’ questions. She spoke about what motivates her and gave valuable advice for girls who aspire to be leaders. Our new 3rd class reps were then presented with their Pupils’ Council badges by the Minister.

We are delighted when the girls have the opportunity to be inspired by women in positions of leadership and to think about the many opportunities that lie ahead of them.
